Who Pays For What?

With almost 40% of couples paying for their own weddings, each couple will make different decisions on how to handle the finances for their wedding. The list below is just one set of guidelines that lean toward the tradition. Don't hesitate to discuss the whole topic as a couple to determine the choices that make the most sense for you both.

The groom's family paid for the following items:

  • The Rehearsal Dinner: Invitations, Site, Food, Drink, Decor
  • Rings: The bride's engagement ring, The bride's wedding ring
  • Gifts: A wedding gift for the bride, Gift for best man, Gifts for groomsmen
  • Flowers: The bride's bouquet (only in certain parts of the country), The bride's going-away corsage, Corsages for immediate family members (check with the bride, as she may have this in her floral budget), Boutonnieres for groomsmen and ushers.
  • Clothing: Grooms tuxedo, Ties, gloves, vests/cummerbunds for the attendants if they are not part of the rental package

The bride and her family traditionally pay for:

  • Ceremony/Reception: reception costs, including food, music, decorations, rental fees and entertainment ceremony costs including rental fees, decorations, flowers for ceremony and reception, photograph, transportation.
  • Attire/Beauty: The bride's wedding dress and accessories, her hair, makeup, beauty treatments
  • MISC: Invitations, announcements, programs, and mailing costs, favors, the groom's wedding ring, a wedding gift for the groom, gifts for her attendants, and sometimes accommodation for any out-of-town bridesmaids.

Remember, use this list as a guideline to create a budget that best fits your wedding day!!!

Oscar Looks = Wedding Day Glamour!!!

If you are anything like me….you watched the red carpet of the Oscar’s last night! I love the red carpet…the gowns…the make-up and the jewelry! Plus, award season is a great way to select your hair and make-up for your wedding day. I know I walked into the salon on my wedding day with an US WEEKLY in hand. It’s so much easier to show images of what you like on others when trying to create your perfect wedding day look.

Here are some looks that I loved last night:

Sandra Bullock: A classic yet red lip is flawless and so beautiful!

Zoe Saldana: This look is effortless beauty. It's simple and chic...I love it!

Kate Winslet: Modern and flawless!

SEND US YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY!!!

SEND US YOUR ENGAGEMENT STORY!!!

A huge part of every wedding is the engagement. And with every engagement there is the story that will be told over and over for many years to come. Maybe it's that wedding season is about to being here in Arizona, maybe it's because I am sucker for a great love story...maybe it's both! But the truth still remains, you have a great love story that I want to hear about. I want to share it with the readers of the Arizona Weddings Blog. With assistance from my amazing Intern Sara Mc Daniel, we will be collecting your love stories and posting them on the Arizona Weddings Blog each week. Here's what we need...

· An image of the happy couple (a minimum 72 dpi)
· Couple's Info (Names, Contact Info)
· How did the couple meet?
· How did the engagement happen?

Send your information to Sara at intern@arizonaweddings.com
